Here are some things we encourage:01 _{Please consider prioritizing FC members for instances. Obviously, we understand we all have friends outside of the FC, and of course, you may feel free to run with them, but we strongly encourage everyone to group with each other as much as possible for content. We have scheduled FC events and content request days, so there’s great chances to party up!}

02 _{Please be open to advice! This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to take the advice, but try to give the benefit of doubt when someone is trying to help you out! If you’re feeling some type of way about an interaction, try resolving it with that person privately! It is likely it was not intentional.}

03 _{Please be mindful when giving information. Try to provide informed input regarding in game content. If you’re not sure, we can learn together. It’s okay to not know! We want to make sure everyone succeeds at the game, and the best way to do that is to make sure the advice we give in game is accurate.}

04 _{Please attempt to resolve conflicts independently FIRST. We are not babysitters! We are all adults or adults-in-training. Learning how to handle conflict is important to becoming a better person and strengthening relationships. If you are thinking right now, “This FC isn’t for me”, let me also say… If you are shy or the situation is uncomfortable, please, please, please reach out to an FC leader or officer. We all have different personalities, temperaments, and cultural differences. We personally believe it is important to work out conflict so that it can be resolved and does not fester.}

05 _{Do not have conflict in general chats. Take any conflict outside of the public eye (Not in FC, Discord, /say, /shout, /party, etc.) and continue to treat each other with respect. Minor disagreements happen, they can’t be completely avoided. You can respond to a problem in general chat once- if the conflict starts to snowball, or get to a point where it’s affecting others beyond those involved, officers will ask that the conflict be taken to a private channel where the other 100 people in the fc are not going to have to carry the emotional weight of that conflict without their consent. If you are asked to take a conflict to tells or discord dms, please see the following rule.}

06 _{Handling a Negative Situation within the FC. If there is ever conflict involving another party, it is expected that you approach that person directly. We are leaders; not babysitters. We expect everyone to try to sort out their grievances independently BEFORE bringing an officer into the situation. It is, however, encouraged to let an officer know about the incident. This will be handled with complete confidentiality, but can be incredibly valuable to establishing patterns of offenses. If you can’t resolve a conflict privately with another member and need assistance from an officer or leader, please message them with as much information as possible- screenshots are encouraged, as without them there may be very little we can do to help. If the situation happened in voice chat, please write as faithfully as you can what happened in text- we will need a written record of the conflict to consult with other officers or to mediate with the other parties to find a resolution as needed.}

07 _{Please consider that your behavior can either positively or negatively affect the reputation of the free company. Joining the free company means you are part of a growing collective. We want to be proud of our FC, so please conduct yourself in a way that builds a good reputation for the Free Company when you’re out and about in dungeons or socializing. We don’t expect you to be a saint, but we do expect you to be good to sprouts and walk away from conflict with toxic individuals.}

08 _{Advertise yourself, responsibly! We have the artist’s alley in the discord channel, and a community feed channel for streamers. We want to see what you create and do! We encourage commissions info, links and streams to be placed in those channels- please speak to a lead to be added to the streamer notifications bot. We ask that any advertisements or links to your personal shops be kept to those channels.}

09 _{Have conversations in the right space. In the discord please utilize the mental health and wellness channels appropriately, and have spoiler MSQ or endgame raiding conversations in the appropriate channels. If you’re not sure if something should be said in fc chat in game, trust that instinct and take it to the appropriate discord channel. Please work with officers if they ask you to shift a conversation elsewhere- trust their reasoning as they work hard to moderate both fc chat and the discord. Please message an officer (Phyoka Shade or Eris Retter) if you feel that a conversation was unfairly moved and they can explain why.}

_{A Note on Inactivity and Growth:
Prolonged Inactivity will result in dismissal with opportunity to re-apply upon return. After 30 days of being inactive, you will be moved to the AFK rank and, if possible, a message will be sent to your preferred method of contact. After 45 days, we will remove you from the FC with an open invitation to return, please!!!! Come back and reapply when you’re back in game! That being said, if you come to one of our leads and explain a longer absence beforehand, we can place you in the protected absent rank. Please communicate if you can! We know IRL can be crazy. If you are removed from the FC for inactivity, again, please remain in the discord, you’ll be given the Alliance Member role, and you are still a part of the family! We will look forward to your return.}

_{Officership is based on merit something something darkside- We have a small but experienced leadership team- if you are interested in being a member of our hype council team, we can always use help with FC related stuff but keep in mind, this is a game, we don’t take anything too seriously and we have no room for ego or any kind of pseudo power hungry nonsense. If you are interested in helping keep FC actions up, tending the garden, helping with fc related crafts/gathering, or hosting fc events, please send a message in discord to the lead or an officer to receive the Hype Council rank. We will not be adding any more officers for the indefinite future. The hype council rank is a volunteer role and does not perform officer duties.}

Here are some things we discourage:01 _{Please avoid R-rated or pornographic content on the Discord server. We’re not necessarily saying the server needs to stay PG, but let’s try to keep graphic sexual acts or overly edgy/violent images in other servers. We’re not judging what you’re into, but if your grandmother would judge you for it, it’s probably not appropriate for this platform. This is just to make sure we’re complying with Discord’s TOS, as we don’t want to accidentally show that content to someone underage. Note that admins reserve the right to remove anything they think is too obscene. Outside of the NSFW and Assorted Nightmares tabs, we expect nice, clean conversation. In the NSFW tab, non-pornographic (do not show lower genital areas) nudity, softcore suggestive poses, and tasteful fan art depicting adults is allowed. In the Assorted Nightmares tab, anything goes that is not against discord’s TOS- as long as it depicts adults and is not gore.}

02 _{Please try to avoid forming cliques within the FC. We totally understand that you may vibe with certain people more than others, and that’s absolutely fine, but we also want to make sure we’re including everyone equally. That doesn’t mean you can’t continue to run with the same people, but do try to reach out to people you may have never ran with. If you are concerned about a clique, or feel excluded, please reach out to an officer.}

03 _{We do not encourage elitist behavior. Please remember that this FC is home to members of all skill levels; we all started as sprouts. Have patience with members who are still acclimatizing to the sometimes overwhelming amount of content in this game and may have questions we’ve all answered many times before. We also prefer that conversations about parsing, ribbing people about bad dps, and arguments about meta be had in the appropriate spaces.}

Things that will result in immediate removal from the FC:04 _{Direct and intentional hate speech of any kind will result in an immediate kick. For the sake of brevity in this intro, we will include a brief definition, but ask that you research independently if this is unclear in any way.
Hate speech is defined as “abusive or threatening speech or writing that expresses prejudice against a particular group, especially on the basis of race, religion, or sexual orientation.”
That having been said, this is NOT an overly PC-policed FC! By entering this FC, you agree that there is no hate in your heart for any person for any reason. Therefore, things said within FC or Discord chat should be, by default, taken as a joke and with the benefit of doubt. <<Please refer to the above>>}

05 _{Continued Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. If an FC member has previously confronted you directly or requested a leader or officer to confront you directly for harassment and the behavior continues (with confirmation/proof), you will be kicked immediately, with absolutely no excuses accepted.}

06 _{Theft of any kind. Any confirmed theft via screenshots or video from any other individual, in or out of the FC, past or present, will result in you being kicked immediately. We have no home for thieves.}

06 _{Confirmed RMT dealings. If you have ever purchased Gil using Real Life money, please do us a favor and remove yourself immediately. You are putting everyone in our FC that may trade with you in danger. If you wish to join our FC with another character that has not traded with an RMT, you may choose to do so.}

07 _{Creating or perpetuating drama of any kind in FC chat. We have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for drama of any kind. If you have an issue with an FC member or have a conversation in FC chat/ discord steering in a direction that can be construed as hostile in any way, it is in YOUR best interest to direct these messages to /tell immediately. You will receive ONE warning from an FC leader or officer, at their discretion, to request to take the conversation to /tell. Please see the above rule about removing conflict from public chats. If this warning is ignored, you will be immediately but temporarily kicked from the FC. We understand that things can get heated, but we will not tolerate conflict within the FC and/or Discord chat. If your name is being slandered publicly and you fan the flames by responding, you will STILL be kicked for responding and followed up with afterwards. An FC officer or leader WILL correct that situation for you if you don’t respond to these things, so please be patient and go through the proper channels.}

_{Please note, if we mention needing confirmed proof of an incident, we mean screenshots/video. Conflict in voice chat will require a written recap of the events that occurred and please understand it is difficult to moderate voice chat related conflict if the moderator was not present, as it becomes one person’s word against the other.
If you are removed from the FC and you feel it was unfair, please submit screenshots about the situation that led to your removal to one of the leaders and they will get back to you at their earliest convenience. Without screenshots, we cannot do anything. Screenshots are not a guarantee you will be added back, but all presented arguments and evidence will be considered fairly.}

Right off the bat, we wanted to point out some clear truths. We do not operate like a formal corporation. We do not run this FC for personal wealth or power. We do not mindlessly recruit and ignore new members. Each and every new member is treated with the same amount of respect as any of our veterans. We strive to make every member feel seen and welcomed, every day.That having been said, to ensure the FC operates in a way that aligns with our core values, we ask that every potential New Recruit read through both the condensed rules and the extended standards pages on this site so that we can continue to thrive as a peaceful, fun, and nurturing FC. Ignorance is not an excuse for crossing a line, so it is in your best interest to make sure you thoroughly understand the expectations from the moment you accept an invitation.

We spent time designing rules, creating spaces to speak on hard topics, and building a safe place for people to be completely human in a family-style fc where no one is above another.We have a weekly schedule, we have movie nights together, and we talk about exercise and mental/physical health in our discord- we want to recognize the humans behind the screens as well as the fun of the game.We do have a free company raiding program, but we are open to all kinds of players! Our crew does a little of everything, and we love giving space for folks to enjoy the game no matter what their focus is. We even have a day set aside for gambling in game, and other games together!

FC Member of the Month: Aulweaux Drillemont

Al has been with the FC since April 10th, 2021. He's a dear friend to us all, and a charming, kind person. He's known for being randomly online, throwing away all of his gear and items and then realizing he needs them again later, and that one time he finished a dungeon in his underwear - ask him to tell you the story. You can usually hear his music faintly in the background in voice chat. He has a really infectious laugh!
Al is always ready to help out and just loves to spend time with friends and have a good laugh. He's known to get very introspective and downright philosophical late at night, and he is always trying to be the best human being he can be.
